Memory Verse – Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”
We apologize due to a technical issue we were unable to record the message again this week, we are including Pastor’s detailed transcript for you to read here:
Show No Favoritism
James 2:1-13 “1 My brothers, show no favoritism as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in,3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court?7Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?”
“8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9But if you show favoritism, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.12So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”
1 Samuel 16:6-7 “6When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
“7But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 “26Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.”
Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”
Prayer: “Heavenly Father, as we begin this Lenten journey, we come before You with humble hearts. Help us to return to You with sincerity, to seek You more deeply, and to live lives that reflect Your grace. May this season of Lent draw us closer to You and prepare us for the joy of Easter. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
